Reading Log Week Two (second semester): Book: New Moon Author:Stephenie Meyer Pages Read: 1-180 Quote:“I was afraid of the time I’d spent unconscious, afraid that he might have been thinking about right and wrong again while he watched me sleep.” Reaction: I feel that after the incident that happened at Edward’s house, Bella was afraid that Edward might be beating himself up about it and thinking that he should stop seeing her because she isn’t safe with him. Also, Bella is getting the wrong feeling when she sees him because she feels that he’s going to tell her something that will break her heart and she is trying to keep him from doing that because she doesn’t want to lose him or be without him. Edward might have a lot on his mind and a lot of decisions to make. 2/17/09 Pages Read:181-322 Quote:“Timebegan to trip along much more quickly than before.” Reaction:I feel that since Bella had been spending more time with Jacob, she feels that the time was passing by much more quickly and differently than before. And Bella was starting to get curious about this fast time passing and event happening. Bella might have been so focused on Jacob and the events he was planning with her, she started to lose track of time. Bella was trying to forget about someone so much, that one day she realized that she was so busy that she forgot to pay attention to time. She might have been more distracted, rather than focused while the time had passed by. Looks like Bella had a lot on her mind those past couple of days. 2/18/09 Pages Read: 323-442 Quote: “I cowered into Jacob’s side, my eyes scanning the forest for the other werewolves.” Reaction: I feel that Bella got scared by a werewolf that she saw out in the woods. This was apparently Jacob in werewolf form. Bella was surprised that she just saw a werewolf come out in the middle of the forest. She was suspicious when she saw the wolf and a little bit curious at the same time. For a moment, Bella thought that it was Jacob that was the werewolf, but then she changed her mind and just went with her regular thought, which was,” it was just a normal wolf.” She was very afraid at the moment, as she pictured herself being surrounded and she might get hurt or bitten by the viscous wolves. 2/19/09 Pages Read: 443-563 Quote: “He was not pleased, that much was easy to read in his face.” Reaction: I feel that when Bella put her mortality to a vote, Edward was not pleased at the statement she'd made. Edward must have been thinking about Carlisle's opinion when Bella mentioned that thought so he knew he should take her to Carlisle to see what he had to say about this. Bella knew Edward was shocked when she mentioned this, but she had a feeling that he will put some thought into her decision. Edward was surprised that even while he was gone, Bella still thought about this. Edward might have thought that she'd forgotten about it, but he was wrong. Edward had a lot of surprises come at him since he'd come back from his trip.

Reaction: I feel that after the incident that happened at Edward’s house, Bella was afraid that Edward might be beating himself up about it and thinking that he should stop seeing her because she isn’t safe with him.
